James Madison Hick's Civil War Military Record






James Madison Hicks volunteered his service to the 50th Tennessee Infantry. He enlisted at Ft. Donelson with R. W. McGavick. On 16 Feb 1862 at what was the surrender of Ft. Donelson, James escaped with General Nathan Bedford Forrest. James returned home to Dover before the battle of Shiloh due to the failure of his eyesight.
